Good News Friday: A pro soccer league comes to Afghanistan. A very cool video from the BBC. And why the Baby Mop makes me love America

Afghanistan has its first-ever professional soccer league.
I think this is a big deal.
I love odd stories like this one that makes it seem like some parts of the world that have seen such horror and tragedy really can have some semblance of normalcy.
The APL (Afghan Premier League) has eight teams, draws thousands of fans to games, and is just one of the many pieces of good news coming out of Afghanistan.
Girls are going to school at a much greater rate. Life expectancy is going up. Plenty of other good things are happening there, too, as this article points out.

You don’t have to look that hard to realize that yes, our military operation in Afghanistan has had massive setbacks, has cost us billions, etc.
But there is some good news if you just take the time to look.

**This next video had me smiling for 10 minutes. The great David Attenborough, narrating the lyrics to Louis Armstrong’s classic “What a Wonderful World,” as elements of beauty scroll past.

It was originally a BBC commercial (hat tip to my father for sending it to me), and it’s just great.

**Finally, you might not believe this qualifies as Good News but I do. A company called BetterthanPants.com has invented the Baby Mop. What is the Baby Mop? It’s a onesy for your baby that also doubles as a mop, thereby allowing the baby to crawl AND clean your house’s floors at the same time!

This is ridiculous, of course, as are the website’s Top 5 reasons to buy this product and use it : (No. 3: Baby will get a nice workout, burn off energy, and do muscle toning. And sleep better too!)

But I say it’s good news because only in a crazy wonderful country like America could someone invent this monstrosity and have people pay 40 bucks for it.

Plus, the Baby Mop is cheap labor, which is the only reason people have kids in the first place, right?
